ON THE COVER: The cover photograph is a picture of MSgt William S. Willette, Liaison NCO to the North Dakota Civil Air Patrol Wing, from February 1975 to February 1979. The photo reflects the sincere dedication that "Will" has devoted to this Wing and reminds everyone of the countless hours of effort he has given of himself for the good of North Dakota's CAP. Wingspan has selected MSgt Willette as the cover celebrity this December issue, to honor him for a job well done, and reflect on the progress that CAP had made during "Will's" tour of duty. Every member of the North Dakota Civil Air Patrol has felt the beneficial consequence that has come about these past four years because of "Will's" continuous labor of love. The Wingspan Staff and all members of this proud Civil Air Patrol organization wish Will and his family a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year at his new station. Will is scheduled to depart for Hanscom Field, Boston, Massachusetts on February 14th, 1979. Farewell and GOOD LUCK!

The February 1968 issue shown above was the first to use the name "NODAK WINGSPAN." According to editor Capt. Virgil R. Mahlum, the name was selected from approximately 25 entries. Several years earlier the Wing reportedly published a paper, entitled "Flickertail." There are no known copies of this publication in existence today.
